craigslist or other used goods services. You can get used tanks for a fraction of what you'll find in any store.
300 gallon mega tank: build in progress
75 gallon community tank: tetras, danios, corys, platies, otos, pearl gouramis, bristlenose pleco, assassin snails, red cherry shrimp, bamboo shrimp
70 gallon growout tank: clown loaches, sailfin pleco
60 gallon goldfish tank: fancy goldfish
29 gallon frog tank / 10 gallon tadpole tank: 1 leopard frog, 1 tadpole
10 gallon and 5.5 gallon betta tanks: 1 male betta each, sometimes snails

You could watch garage sale ads and go when they say fish tanks. I dont have a petco but I heard they are still doing their $1 per gallon sale on some tanks up to 55 gallon. I have bought my largest tanks from craigslist.

+1 to CL.
What is the issue? Apparently it is not an issue to this person:

Ah,
I would absolutely find a family member and explain that it would help you save a lot of money if they helped you shop this way.

Can you have a family member or family friend actually do the craigsliat dealing and pickup? I dont always like going to do craigslist deals and I am 28, but if it is in an unfamiliar area I try to have aomeone go with me.
Online from stores wont be a good deal for tanks, they are too hard and expensive to ship..
A local store by me once had 75 gallons for $75 but it wasnt advertised and we just found it one day.

the petco dollar per gallon sale is about as good as you can get for new tanks, yeah. Were you looking for a certain sized tank, or looking to spend a certain amount?
