feeding Harlequin Rasboras
Am getting a school of Harlequin Rasbora for a new 12 gal tank I'll be buying. Expect to add 4 more after they get acclimated.
Will also eventually have some cory cats in this community tank.
Anything I should know in advance about feeding the Harlequin Rasboras?
Thank you!

I have harlequin rasbora, corries and others in my 29g planted community tank. The harlequins ALWAYS stay in the top 1/2 - 1/3 of the tank. I feed mine flake food. As for the corries I alternate giving them shrimp pelits and bottom feeder tablets.
I really do not think that your tank is big enough for 2 species of schooling fish. Remember that the BARE MINIMUM school size is 6+ with 10+ being SOOOOOO MUCH BETTER. I noticed a HUGE difference in my fish when I upped the school size to 10. If I were you I would just do the harlequins and MAYBE a dwarf gourami. That tank is NOT BIG ENOUGH for two schools of fish. I think that you will like a DG. Mine swims laps in my tank. He go up and down in the water column.Lots of tanks. Some tanks are planted. Fish include community and bettas.

I'll add a little different opinion. You could add one type of the dwarf cories, like cory hasbrosus, and you could probably have 5-6 of these. There are also cory pygmaeus and cory hastasus. These last two may travel mid-tank more than hasbrosus, which stays more to the bottom and is just so darn cute.
Just make sure you have adequate filtration for both schools.

You are planning on 16 rasbora in that 12 gallon tank? That tank is too small for that many rasbora much less corys, as well.

Hoping for 10 rasboras (not 16) -- previously told by 4 people @ 2 LSFs (not on AC) that the tank could handle 2 schools of 10 ea small fish (dwarf cories & h. rasbora). Glad I wrote this post & learned otherwise.
Since I started just keeping an aquarium about 3-4 months ago, I discovered that there's so much conflicting or just wrong info at LFS's & on the internet. So I'm checking things out on AC BEFORE I do anything because what I don't know can hurt fish.
I want to get rid of way too small first tank (3 gal tera half moon kit) housing my betta rescued from a planted vase & a zebra nerite. Don't have room for a larger tank than the 12 gal fluval edge (it's tall rather than wide). Will get a 30 or 38 gal Nuvo tank when opening new office in 1-2 months. But right now I'm just wrapping up cycling planted 12 gal, so trying to plan right right community for it.
Based on volume calculations on internet / LSF info, was hoping to add 6, then 4 more H. rasporas, then the bottom feeders (habrosus corydoras), finally betta boy. (3-gal remains back up in case he is aggressive). Dwarf gouramis not comp w/ betta.
Can I safely have 10 rasboras + betta + nerite in 12 gal Fluval edge?
Was told that 12 gal Fluval Edge filter is really good. Is that not true either?
Once again, thank you all so much! I love this forum.

A 3g is plenty of space for a betta. I keep 6 males in a 20g High (divided of course). I have 2 females that share a 2.5g and 2 more females that share a 5g. (Yes I do have 10 bettas. And no I do not breed them nor plan on it.)
Lots of tanks. Some tanks are planted. Fish include community and bettas.

I'm not against trying bettas in a community, but for some reason I would be very scared to try it in a tank as small as a 12g.
130g: 7 Angelfish, 1 Bolivian, 17 Neon Tetras, 14 Serpae Tetras, 9 Kuhli Loaches, 1 Otocinslus, ? Ghost Shrimp
I've noticed that people HATE it when you point out how stupid they are, so now I try to do it politely.
