Need Help on Breeding Tiger Barbs
Hi, i need help on how to breed tiger barbs and identifying their sexes, i once saw my tiger barbs chasing one... i am not sure if it is a spawning sign or just a fight... btw the one they are chasing is pale in color and the one leading the chase is darker than before... IS THIS A SPAWNING SIGN? the problem is when i put the pale one on another tank with the bright one, they stop chasing... :((

That's because they have been interupted and plopped into another tank they aren't used to.

You'll have to put a pair in a breeders tank so they can spawn. After they spawn, leave the eggs and return the parents to their main tank.

You have asked this same question in two different threads so I have merged both together.
Barbs chase each other. It's just what they do and why they need to be in large schools. Due to the size schools they require, you should have a larger tank for them. I don't know what size tank you have but Barbs will not work in really small tanks.
You will see different behavior when they pick a mate and two will try to remain together all the time and the male will began to start chasing others away from them.Cycling With Fish?•• The Fishless Cycle••

Spawning and court ship behavior. Cool.
When I breed fish like this I batch breed them in their own tank. Moving them gets them out of sync and they lose the conditioning.
I use a small food safe dish like a tuper ware container, maybe like 8 inches long by 4 inches wide. I take a bunch of smaller stones about the size of marbles and place them into the tuper ware container just as the marble method would be done. I set the tub in the tank after I feed to induce spawning and I will leave it in the tank until perhaps mid morning, 10ish. Most fish are triggered by early light to spawn.
I will remove the tray to a separate hatch out tank.
I will use several of these to introduce into the tank as these fish will spawn multiple times.
I place the whole tray into the tank and place an airtube next to it with a slow bubble. The little fry will rise out of it or seek shelter among the stones.
Good luck.
