Thread: BumbleBee

  1. Default BumbleBee

What fish would go well with a bumblebee and electric blue cichild? Is there any school of fish I could use? I've looked at discus and angels, what are the possibilities with these? Also, are there any inverts in particular that would work well (clam or shrimp)?

What size tank? and what filtration do you have for it?

I would also suggest you research other Lake Malawi species as tank mates because mixing Africans with South American species won't work due to their differing water parameter & dietary requirements.

As 850 has asked, a tank size would be handy to know. But don't put angels and discus in with Africans. The two cichlids that you have are quite aggressive, the bumblebees can be especially nasty towards other fishes. If you are really wanting to try a schooling species of fish with Africans, I would take the bumblebee and the electric blue back and get yourself a group of electric yellows (Yellow Labs), then add a large school of tiger barbs. I've done this and it works really well. But this all depends on your tank size.

It is a 55 gallon with a Aquaclear 110. Thinking about upgrading the filter to a canister.

I actual prefer my ac110s over my canister filter. What kind of electric blue is it? There's the electric blue johanni and the electric blue Ahli which is a Hap. On another forum a person thought a cobalt zebra was an electric blue. If it is the Hap the shrimp will be eaten.
