I completely disagree, sorry! Established...
I completely disagree, sorry! Established bacteria from ANY source is a good thing for a new tank. Any hitchiker diseases or fungus, however.... that's a different story.

if you have any access to java moss or something...
if you have any access to java moss or something to that effect, I would throw a little snipping in as well. It won't keep the water completely clean, but may help to soak up some of the fish waste...

I currently have red cherry shrimp & Amano (Japonica) shrimp in my tank... If I threw in a few Synodontis Nigriventris (Upside down catfish) .. would they look at my adult shrimp as yummy snacks?

It still depends on the type of fish you're...
It still depends on the type of fish you're looking to stock. You could have 10 inches of neon tetras very easily.. but 10 inches of goldfish, and you're toast.
