+1 In most cases the ph being stable is much more important than it being within a fishes "preferred range". Especially considering most fish in the hobby are tank bred, rams certainly included....

I do this in my 40b currently. There are only 3 small fish in there though.

I think the above posters have it right, its doable but not if you want to have a well stocked tank like most people...

Its a GBR, when they are younger they arent as colorful yet.
