The flag fish alone in the quarantine tank has white growths on his fins. I was dosing him with Pimafix.
The others are in another tank.
I use Seachem Prime and it says it does both.

Moved flagfish into 10g so I could dose alone with Pimafix. Took a 20 Aquaclear off the main tank for the 10g
Main tank still has about 1ppm ammonia each day. I have done 30% water...

I push down until I can feel it hit the bottom layer (I had 2 inches of seachem flourite and then a top layer of sand).. Once I feel that I usually push down tad more. hold then tilt...

I vacuum every waterchange. I usually rotate areas and the black flourite makes it pretty easy to see that it is clean of waste usually in the open areas. If I hit a tight spot I...

The plant - pretty sure it was called Hornwort - was recommended to me by LFS to help combat some BGA that I had over the summer. Which it did seem to help, but - like Cabomba - for me it seemed to...

Rosy Barbs are listed as sub-tropical:
All the fish are sub-tropical by most sources.
I'm not switching them around to accomodate a heater for certain fish because according to what...
Thanks for the response!
That is odd. I have read in several places where Cories were acceptable in sub-tropical tanks since they had a wide range. My tank has dropped to 68 before on winter...
First of all, Wanna thank all you good folks for the good info this site gives. Thanks to hanging out here about 9 months ago I had a perfect first tank setup and have lost only 1 shrimp under the...
I have had a single male American Flagfish in my tank for around 9 months. See info below. He is normally the dominate fish and usually is out swimming and hitting the topwater...

Thanks for the help!
I will try to get a pic of Ménage (The flagfish, my daughter named him)
I've been thinking about getting a couple more peppered cories but was worried about overstocking.

My book shows White Clouds to be best in 64-77 (mine rarely goes over 72) They seem to be doing good with that.
I think I meant SAE (Siamese) rather than Chinese, I confuse them.
I may read up...

I said that too but you'll quickly realize that you won't need to (nor want to).
Remember to shake that NITRATE bottle like the directions say, it really won't give accurate...

Ugh.. I suppose I could take the Gourami out tonight and put him in a 5 gallon bucket of dechlorinated water? Then return tomorrow.
Would that be ok? I don't want anything to happen to my...

Today was round 2 of fish stocking. And everything went smooth besides (a last second change in my plan). I picked up a Paradise Gourami. I have been shooting for fish that like cooler...
As I typed the post it must have fell off.. Is it normal to see that happen with poop?
My male American Flagfish I've had for a week. Today we noticed he has a wierd looking string hanging from him. I am hoping this is just poop?
It turns green at the end.. And doesn't seem to be...
Gormlaith — (GOORM-la) from Old Irish gorm "splendid" + flaith "queen, sovereignty"; other sources say it means "blue princess", "blue lady" or "illustrious princess". Popular in Middle Ages, name of...
What about a
Or this guy:
I bought wafers for the cories.. AND she let me buy the food for the cardinals she handed me that right before the whole new tank/cycle discussion (I just realized that.. grrr..)
This is the co-owner of the LFS which I am really trying to like because I do believe they have the best selection of freshwater fish and supplies I can find around me. I explained that I managed...
Yes, I realize the cories don't eat algae. I am just saying I did want an algae eater, but was thinking maybe later if I could manage to stock an SAE. But saw they had some flags and went that...
So today was fish day. I have a 29 gallon I've fishless cycled for a month. I've followed the stickies and advice around here and everything seems to be shaking out as expected.
