75% a day is extreme, imo. Honestly, it's going to stress the fish and discus don't need it unless you're dumping in a TON of food.

I've been thinking and what if I got tap water from someone else? Like, it wouldn't be hard for me to get a tapwater five gallons at a time to add to the mix from someone on different water.

I would do that, but my tap gets RIDICULOUS ammonia readings. Like 8-10 ppm and I want the water to be as waste free as possible.

Well, in which case, I would ask, would I need a meter to determine the true PH and if it is lower, what can be done? Switching to a discus specific buffer?

Well, I just don't think it's a geophagus. Frankly, I've never seen it eating substrate at all, but the abalios does it constantly.
