I agree with you Fishkeeper on that Cory choice. It's just a matter of finding a healthy bunch at this time of year. There is no hurry to purchase some as this hobby has taught most of...
I have always had driftwood in my freshwater tanks because I too tie moss and some plants on them but I have seen shrimp breeders tanks with only plants in them.
I dont think rocks are necessary...
So my son and I went to the local lfs to restock his tank after that unfortunate incident which caused him to lose almost half of his stock. I has wondering what type of fish he would be interested...
I would keep it to only 1 male GBR. Reason; having two Rams may cause them to fight over territory unless you can get a male and female that have paired. If a mated pair is available, go for it.

My Rams got along well with everything in the tank.
What the above posts were referring too (I think), where having a pair of Rams in the same tank that were not paired naturally and thrown...
Congratulations imma24 Well done.
Thanks for the extra pictures. Ram #2 I would say is female.
Ram #3 looks more female than male but I'm not 100% sure. Could be a younger male. Sorry.
I agree with madagascariensis on waiting until the new substrate has settled and the water is clear again before adding a Ram.
A nice piece of driftwood would be good for the GBR. They love to...

I have had similar experiences with Cardinals FreakyFishie. Some shipments just don't do well. I usually let the lfs keep the new arrivals for more then three days before I buy some. Having a...
You really loving it Cliff? I guess your Rough Riders play better in the cold and snow eh?
I'm happy with what we have here, snow free so far.
Ram in picture #1 is definitely a Male.
Are the GBR's roughly the same age?
I would say Ram #2 is a female judging by the rounded fins. I'm surprised there is no pinkish colouration at the belly...
It's good to know there is snow on the ground somewhere. So far so good here in southern ontario. You can have my share Steeler1 if you like.

If you can keep Cardinals your water parameters will do just nicely for a Ram. My pH is 7.8 and so is the pH at the local lfs. I drip acclimate all my stock and have not had an issue with pH...
Neat find Steeler1. Many years ago I was able to buy some Thai neons from a small private lfs. They remind me of them alot. I have never come across them again in over 30 years.

As long as you do your large water change my tomorrow (Friday), all should be fine.
How to keep the nitrates down; I do a water change every week of 25% for my freshwater tank.
If your feeding...
Great read. When I read the title of this thread my first thought was someone was trying to replace the moderator "Cliff" with a computor version.
Thank goodness thats not what your explaining.

Please do not thin out your school of Cardinals. They really do well in a school of 8 or more.
From what I've read in this thread, it's the large size of the Pleco that members have an issue with...
Thanks for the update Soot.
Be very careful not to overload your electrical circuits. I hate it when there is only one outlet for my tank. I ran another circuit from the breaker box up near the...
I agree with KingFisher, your filters should be fine but you will want to test daily for a week just to make sure.
Are your friends arms tired from doing major water changes yet?
Even a saltwater...
I agree with Steeler1, Emperor tetras outshine Kerri's. They do get a little large so make sure your tank is large enough for a school.
T5's are enough light for sure serbusfish.
You are right it was the Seachem Flourish Excel that I was using. I have not tried the Seachem Flourish liquid fert.
Most red leaf type plants require high lighting. What type of lighting are you using?
When I was using Seachem Flourish I noticed my giant val's melted away so be careful.

I like Steeler1 stocking suggestion. As far as shrimp go, my son has cherry shrimp in his tetra tank. The shrimp are comfortable enough to be out in the open during the day. They are reproducing in...
Happy Halloween to you too Steeler1 and everyone else.
It's almost time to hand out the cavities.

As the others have said, I never buy new arrivals. There was once a small store which as Sandz said had a great rep. and would take back new arrivals but they are long gone.
Since you do not have a...
