That's what I was hoping. I've had this problem since I dismantled my FX5.
I'll grab a powerhead from work tomorrow. Thanks, guys (and gals)!

    Film on Surface of Water

I had a fish kick the bucket today. I tested the water and ammonia, nitrate and nitrate read 0 (I did a large water change a couple of days ago). The surface of the water was covered in a cloudy...

Water parameters aside, the diet may be problematic. When mbunas consume too much protein over an extended amount of time, they can get "malawi bloat".

In my experience, Rummynose are more difficult to acclimate to a tank than other tetras. Especially if they're wild caught. If you do go the Rummynose route, make sure to drip acclimate.

If by "Silver Gar" you mean Ctenolucius hujeta, then a 50 gallon tank is not unreasonable. According to seriouslyfish.com, C. hujeta grows to about 8 inches and requires a tank 5 feet long.

So I have a small colony of four adult Synodontis petricola. When I came home today two the Synos were acting oddly. They were aggressively pursuing one another. I'm used to watching them play, but...

Mine which fed primarily on two types of Hikari pellets, grew much slower than the rest of my Haps. My Nimbochromis sp. grew almost twice as large as the C. moori in the same amount of time.

My cousin picked up a school of galaxy rasboras about two months afo. They are very timid fish, regardless of their tank mates. They rarely venture out of cover.
