Anyone else notice how the tank linked in the OP appears to have only the front glass tinted? Is that for real, or some kind of photo error? I've never seen that before.

Do the bottles of Prime have a dropper in the top? The de-clhorinator I use does, and the first thing I did is count how many drops it takes to fill a cap. Divide that by 10 and there's your drops...

I once stocked up a 70 gal with several 1-1.5 inch blue gills, a pumpkin seed, and a green sunfish. It was fun watching them establish territories, and they got along for quite a while. The blue...

I've always had good results with them. Had one tank, a 20L, running 10 years with one, never removed. This one had a small HOB AQ filter also, but many other tanks had nothing but UGF. I always...

    Thank you, Allesgut.

He is fed a quality flake food, and/or shrimp pellets, 5-7 days a week. Then frozen bloodworms or brine shrimp once every week or two. No exactness to this. Might skip a day a...

I took a couple pics tonight when I fed my guys. L. Botia was bought in 1994 and kept in a 20L in my office at work for 10 years along with some Tetra's. When I left the company (s)he moved to a 30g...

I'm in the Chicago suburbs. I have a wetlands in my backyard that used to flood full every spring, bringing in mature fish that would then spawn. I collected minnows, bull heads, and crayfish here.

Lightly stocked is the way to go. Less maintenance and more success. Maybe skip the 10 gal idea and go for a larger tank.

Thanks AF and firefly, (no offense taken) I accidentally hit post on my OP before I was ready.

Another vote for WCMM's. Very beautiful fish once they mature. Actually, I just started up a 10 with 6 of these.

AF: Thanks. These fish were all in schools back in their day. All are 10 years old or near. What do you do when the school dwindles down due to old age? Keep adding to it? Doesn't make sense to me.

In my experience an UGF and any HOB filter on a 30 gal. is always plenty. (edit: unless grossly over stocked) For years we ran tanks with only UGF. You just have to vacuum the gravel regularly.
