okay great, when you say 'around' you mean buried close to right? Should I just bury it right under the plant?
Recently bought a small Amazon sword and put it n my tank, I read that they grow better with root tabs so I was looking at Osmocote which seems to be really cost effective:
I have a 55g with 11 yoyo loaches (2 older, probably 5 years old, other 9 are all young), I also have 5 cory melanistius. With all these bottom dwellers I'm worried there might be overcrowding...
Experiences with NLS? On Amazon its has quite good reviews. They do have a lot of choices, which of the products are best to get for small freshwater fish, i.e. tetra, loaches, cory?

If I went with the 3 honey gourami would i just have to buy 3 or can they be sexed? The ones I saw at the LFS were tiny. Does it have to be 1 male with multiple females?

So I have a couple options:
I could return the green fire tetra to the LFS or move them to my 55g.
In that case could i have something like a bolivian ram, honey gourami and some dither fish in...

Swordtail is in my 55g, for the 20g it would be the green fire tetras (6, going to increase to 8 eventually) and corys
In that scenario would a red honey gourami fare well?

Hm...What about Honey Gourami? Thinking of getting 1 for my 20g, btw I have 6 green fire tetras in it, think that would be a problem, either for competing for food or fin nipping?
aqueon, i bought the 200w it was the same cost as the 100w. Slowly raising temp now. thanks for the help
1 more question. Im at petco. What watt heater should I get for a 20g glass. There is aqueon 100watt 200 and 300. The lady said to get tue 100w but is more better? I was thinking the 200watt wanted...
how fast should i raise the temperature? is 2 degrees F an hour too fast?
Hey so I woke up this morning and my heater broke. Luckily I am able to work from home so I can get a new one ASAP when Petco opens in 20 minutes. Currently my fish are at 64F when the temperature...

If both methods are the same than I think I'll opt for the more accurate way (just adding it all at once before I add new water)
I'm still curious about adding the total amount or just for the...

Currently I do a 50% water change each week, treated with Prime. I put a little bit of Prime in each bucket of water (takes about 4 buckets to fill the tank), however I have read that people will put...

I've read online that Green Fire Tetra are fin nippers. Does that mean they can't be kept with swordtail?
what are some good floating plants that possibly do not require a lot of light and are more for beginners? (ive never had plants in my tank)
Home Depot had play sand so I got that and rinsed it for a couple hours before adding it to the tank, cleared up very quickly after a 50% water change.
I currently have my 7 julii (probably...
I've been doing some research on substrate and it looks like the two best options are Quikrete play sand and pool filter sand, can anyone help me decide on which one is best for cory's...
My plan is to add the albino pleco in around a week or two then cory after that. What do you think is a good time frame? I plan to do weekly water changes and I do have old media in the...
I currently have a newly set up 20g long tank with 6 zebra danio. Besides the julii cory, only other fish I would probably add would be an Albino Bristlenose pleco.
How many Julii...
