I picked up some maracyn (which is erythromycin), enough for a 5 day treatment as directed. I'll also get some epsom salt to drop in (about 1 tsp for my 29 gal).
Hopefully this will knock it out.... -

I'll have to see if I can find maracyn. Any other options? My local petco had little to offer, that's why I got pimafix. I'll have to probably get to my normal aquarium store tomorrow.

If you dont feed a bit of ammonia to the tank every day after the ammonia drops to 0, you'll kill the cycle. The ammonia > nitrite converting bacteria need ammonia to live.
So once your ammonia... -

Hmm everything I'd read about the cockatoo was that it was unique in the sense it handled 8.0 PH water fine. (in fact, the library on this very site lists PH range from 6.0 to 8.0 for the cockatoo)...

29 gallon, 8.0 PH, very soft water (hardness 1 or less), and alkalinity is like 250. Oh and temp is 77-78 F.
The LFS water is similar to mine, around a 7.5 PH, soft water, etc. -
