I've read where some breeders hatch their eggs out in water from
the tap, leaving the chlorine in to help fight fungus.
That didn't work for me but I wonder, my water has chloramines,
so does that...

I use 29 gal grow out tanks.
As they grow I cull and move them but may start out with
400 in a 29 gal. and end up with over 100 at selling size.

That is pretty common in angels, it may develop into popeye if left
untreated. I'm treating one right now. He seems to be improving.

I feed my fish ALL they can eat.

Are they in darkness all night or do you leave any lights on?
And, are they being fed live baby brine shrimp?

They grow 4 times as fast when they're on the shrimp
verses the flake food.

My angels do very well in hard water, and share it with a few rainbows too.

I always get a few of those.
With more inbreeding, they seem to increase in numbers.
They need to be culled early, mine become food for
the larger fish.

I took my angels off the brine shrimp and feed them
only flake foods now and they seem to be doing fine.
