Not much to trouble shoot there. All I would do, is repeat the liquid test kit meticulously following the directions, and if the reading was still suspect, I would buy another liquid test kit.

I'd be happy to see rain at this point...you don't have to shovel rain!

lol "mild" is any temperature that doesn't make you cough on your first breath of outside air because it instantly freeze-dries your throat all the way to your lungs...and no wind ;)

good to see you are still here!

When you clean your filter, do you do it in running tap water?
With only a few fish creating ammonia in that size tank, it likely will take twice as long to cycle it.
And I forgot to mention, I...

Mild, but snowy here...

Hi. I'm a little late to the thread, but it's been almost a month, you should be seeing some nitrites and nitrates by now.
Is your tap water chlorinated? Are you using Prime at all? How much...

yah thanks. I actually have tried that, months ago, but for some reason both dwarf hyacinth and water lettuce melted. When the tank crashed plants AND fish died off. Not sure why the plants didn't...

haha Funny you say that - I'm just on my second jug of RO water...I hadn't really decided to try shrimp again tho, now that the tank is stocked...but maybe down the road...

here is a pic of my 5gal. With no backing, and the reflections from all around, its hard to get a good pic.

I will admit to looking for non-traditional backgrounds as well. If my tank didn't already have the green, I'm really quite curious to see how some of the nice window film you can get now would...

yes, I would do the green again. You're right in thinking it doesn't give as much "pop" as black, but the tank is all around brighter. Plus, with the green background, you don't see the gaps...

I am now officially a binge watcher. I don't like to watch tv shows that are currently running, I grab ones that have had their final season, then I binge watch them. My current favourite - I love...

Wow, last post 2014. Guess I'm a bit overdue for an update.
Well, as I said on my re-intro post, this tank basically crashed about a year ago. I bought some fish at a questionable vendor - they...

maybe as the new additions get comfy and healthy in your tank, they will colour up and differentiate a bit better...

Hey all
Not sure why this morning I brought up the AC site after being gone for so long...I think it's been a year or three. Been a busy time - moving, new job, reorgs at work (one after another...

Great projects Jenn...for some reason your posts always make me smile cuz I remember your "reducing tanks" posts...then I see you have just as many as ever. Or more. But I guess with no more moves...

RiversGirl - it was this one http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-Marineland-Aquatic-Plant-LED-Light-with-Timer-18-to-24-Inch-/231457989003. I couldn't find a link for the new one, I guess its been...

oh, and that safestart stuff isn't helping - that throws your water testing off. I wouldn't be using it. It IS a good idea to test your source water tho - its good to know what your baseline...

You can take the carbon out of the filter without throwing your filter out. Too late now as you've tossed it, but right now I would either get a new filter where the components are separate, or put...

Hey all. Been awhile, but not much to report. My LED light fixture cacked out, not impressed as I am sure it was far from the hours it was supposed to be good for. I have a new one now, but the...

nice little tank. I had to go back WAY too far to find a FTS tho, what gives? :)
-
Beautiful as always, Jenn...tho you always make me smile when I remember your "cutting back on tanks" posts then see how many new set-ups you have planned! ;)
congrats on the promotion and new...
