I think you become immune to the barking. When I am not busy working or taking classes at school I dog sit a family friends dog (another german shep.). The dogs run around the house like its a 3 ring...

That is like our 1 GSD. She is huge compared to our fat lazy cat but yet somehow she is worried that the cat will eat her....Its pretty funny to watch a big mean old dog be so scared of a lazy...
