I already have a handful or 2 assassin snails. Should I add more?

Not neccessarily.... I'm pretty sure you need a small sponge filter or something for water movement(ahem powerhead+quick filter).

I don't know, but since they are RCS, a that high pH ammonia is probably very toxic, and even low ammonia will kill shrimp.

Speaking of driftwood, if you feel rich(hehe) GLA just got a new order of it in. It looks great and doesn't leach tannins apparently, but I don't know what kind it is......

Err... blackwater is basically freshwater with low pH/gH/kH generally and filled with tannins imitating mainly SA/CA and asia...

Its not really a salinity level or something that big....
