I'm not sure about the type of tetra yet. If they wouldn't eat the RCS that might play a role in my decision. I like cardinals...

A simple question:

I'm planning a 10 gallon planted tank. I am thinking a school of tetras (or similar) and cherry shrimp. Would the tetras eat the shrimp?

I don't have lighting yet. I've seen lighting at my LFS that claims to be good for growing plants. I don't know much about it other than that, but it is what I was planning on getting.
