Yea, I tested yesterday and the levels are 0 Ammonia/0 Nitrites again
Probably just a small spike from adding 7 animals.
02-15-2015, 11:35 PM
24 hours later, my tank is recording a smidge of Nitrite. No ammonia though.
It's not even a recordable amount. It's not quite the .25 ppm color, but certainly not the 0 color either. I'd...

These Danios are active little guys, aren't they?
They seem to be constantly swimming all the time, sometimes in groups of 6, other times entirely separate, just exploring the plants on their own....

My phone absolutely butchers the contrast, yikes. That log in real life is practically orange.
But it's in focus with no glare
02-14-2015, 08:53 PM
the glare is still kind of bad, but
Also the plant I thought was Anacharis might be an ancient old Anubias I thought had died ages and ages ago. It was literally...
02-14-2015, 07:15 PM
Hey, now that you mention them, Crypt and Anubias are exactly what I ended up getting. Lutea, Parva and Anubias. Plus the old two Amazon swords, the java fern, the java moss and the mystery plant...

God, changing from that gravel to Ecocomplete was an absolute hassle. Took me hours.
But not because of the Ecocomplete. I also bought a water changer hose thing. And apparently I didn't know how...

Yea, I'll have to get around to going to one. It's actually across the street from my fish store, so that'll work out. I've tried Walmart, Staples and Office Max.
I also ordered some eco-complete...

It's not a matter of getting it cheap, it's a matter of finding it. Last time I needed it, it was around Halloween, and it was plentiful and easy to find, this time Ive been to quite a few stores and...

Basically forever this tank has been sort of okay looking, but still pretty ugly. I used to have a much larger piece of vertical wood in there, but it...
That's good to know.
I still need to find a shelter for the Pleco so he won't be in there until I get that set up and find room for it that doesn't mess with the set up too much.
So if you look at my post history, 4 years ago I pretty much made this exact thread.
That stocking didn't work at all. Over the course of a year, everything slowly died until I was left with...
This stupid thing really did a number of my aquarium. My plants still haven't quite bounced back, my plants all turned brown the day after and still haven't recovered.
It's so bad the dead growth...
what a shame, it seems my banana plant is another victim. About a day later all the leaves just straight fell off and the next day the roots were all shriveled up and by the next day had been eaten...
Noticed a little white spot on my Gourami. Hoping the stress didn't cause ich to catch on, did a bit of salt (can't go too heavy with the cories)
It had to be that, because the water parameters...
Upstate NY, 90 is practically hellish.
Anyway, sitting a fan right in front of the aquarium has the water at 80.
Today is a really hot day, almost 90, and it's 82 in the aquarium room right now.
Was walking past my aquarium today and noticed all my tetra, dead, floating at the surface, all my snails booking...
Just got home, tested it two more times
4.0 first test
4.5 second test
That's not .4
My fish should be gasping at the surface for air, rolling around in gil burning pain and my...
I hope I didn't wash my filter wrong.
I just took the media and moved it through some old tank water, and then stored it in that bucket of water for the hour or so while I did a big cleaning
Well, it read 0 after a number of tests, so maybe the residue is cleaned out and 0 is the actual reading?
There's no way it could jump from .8 to 0 from one water change
this is also the first...
So I did a huge cleaning of my ten gallon a few days ago (algae was out of control). I cleaned the filter, hopefully the proper way (I cleaned it in old tank water), but I wanted to test to make sure...
- Water treatment, I live in a city
- about 20%
- I vacuum every time I do a change, it's how I remove the water.
No I leave it on. I read somewhere that was the best way to extend the life...
Alright, so I noticed this again, just now.
Every single time I change the water on my 25 gallon since I made this thread back in October, it's cloudy for 24 hours or so.
...but it's not the...

bah, I chickened out.
I'm not confident enough in this 1.5 to buy the expensive shrimps. I bought 4 ghosts (total $1.50) and they will live in the aquarium until I think it's settled enough. Then...
11-21-2011, 07:42 PM
that name does seem familiar.
I'll see if my dad wants to take a drive tonight. Maybe I'll end up with the cherry shrimp. They seem to breed easy so I assume buying 4 will provide enough shrimp to...
