    Having shrimps in your tank will limit the type of fish you can have because a lot of fish will attack it. As someone mention earlier RCS are the easiest to take care of.

    If the tank is cycled i would check gh and kh on the shrimp you are keeping. RCS are hardy shrimps and they shouldn't die that easily.

    This is one way of doing it but some of the sand ends up on the actually plant which is one of the reason why I went this way. Plus I didn't have to wait 15 mins or turn off my filter.
