how big is the tank?
how many guppys do you have in there?
has the tank been fully cycled?

it could be that it is not fully cycled... or it could be overstocked

ok yes it i possible to have a plannted tank with no fish in the tank...
what you need is to get the tank dirted you might not know what that means but i think that you should go to Fish tank TV......

it really depends what fish you want to keep but my ph is the same like yours and i can keep neons happy in my tank and neons like a low ph around 6.8

yes the barbs should be kept in schools that bigger the school the less chance there is that they are going to nip fins....

i am not sure if the Blue Paradise Gouramis go with them well...
