If it is heads up in the middle of the tank, it could be gasping for air meaning that you need more oxygen the tank. Try adding a bubbler and increasing surface disruption.

I would be careful adding crayfish to a tank because many times they carry deceases that if pasted onto a fish can kill. So qt time would be required in my opinion. But they aren't my fish either. ...

I like the stock but i em pretty sure it will not work out in the long run and you are looking at a tank in the 100s easy. I would also say it is an aggressive tank and the bns dont belong anywhere...
