I was also wondering if anyone could suggest specific foods. I'm well aware that they are picky eaters and will most likely refuse flake and pellets.
I have been considering the following:

Yeah. I've had good and bad experiences with them so far, so I'm going to give them another try. They also fit well to the size and behavior of the Scarlet Badis.
I planned on getting LEDs, I...

I am currently constructing a 5.5 Gallon Nano Tank for my dorm room.
I do know how to cycle and will be using my cycled filter and filter material in order to start the tank off right.

Well the good news is my LFS has gotten new Kribensis in, which came at the perfect time. I went and looked around at the new stock and lucky me! There is a bonded pair. They have all of the other...

Personally Id like to stay away from the Tiger Barbs, everytime Ive kept them, Ive had negative affects on my other fish with nipping and chasing.

Just to see what the community thinks, this is the combination that was suggested to me by the LFS employees.....
3 X Kribensis (1M, 2F)
1 or 2 BN Plecos (At a later date)
6 of a...
I visited my LFS and they have recently gotten in a good amount of them from a breeder and their vendor. I was wondering what I should be looking for when I choose my Kribs? Color? Certain points...

I know they are not for a new tank, but down the line at some point, would it be appropriate?
And what are everyone's thoughts on a pair of rams or maybe 1 male and 2 females?
08-01-2012, 12:54 PM
And if I skipped on the corys do you think two of the smaller plecos would work? Im not entirely sure what type they are, I am 100% sure that they are NOT common though. Their estimated maximum...

I planned to do about 6 plants, 2 caves, and a small decoration of driftwood or something similar.
I want the best filter I can get, money isnt my enemy right now. Ive actually saved most of the...

I was told that if I gave the Kribs all of the lower levels of the tank that a pair would be suitable with the Neons taking over the top levels.
@ryann - I have been looking at the AquaClear...

We have looked into Chili Rasbora, but because we like the Kribensis we were thinking they would be too small and would be eaten eventually.
07-30-2012, 01:06 PM
We do want to get a larger school of neons since they tend to do better with more of their own around, so I am glad that they would work.
But we really wanted to do a pair or even a single...

We have a 20 gallon, tall tank. It measures 24, 12, 16. We visited our LFSs and we have several speices in mind and aren't sure how to mix them.
The ones we really want are: Kribsensis, Neon...

Would Kribensis be a good alternative?

I would never attempt to put any type of shark into such a small tank. I try to research every species that someone suggests. My LFS even interrogates when people become interested in them.

It is a 24X12X16, I believe.

We went to our LFS yesterday and saw that they had finally got in a new batch of juvenile Golden Rams. I have a 20g Tall tank that is nearing the end of its cycle.
We were wondering if they would...
Actually they didnt. Which I knew they would not. They are not a chain pet store where most employees are usually not knowledgable about their stock. But I will give credit to those employees who are...
Well I am going to my specialty fish store today and see what they recommend, since it is where I bought my tank. But Im thinking they will probably agree with most of the posts here.
I probably will not get anywhere near 20 fish. As above I was thinking:
1 X Dwarf Gourami
5 X Galaxy Rasbora
5 X Endler's Livebearers (Single Gender)
I was considering a Dwarf Gourami and some Galaxy Rasbora possibly a small school of another species as well.
Since the tank is on the smaller side, I would classify a Dwarf Gourami as my "center piece" considering I will have mostly smaller schooling fish as the other occupants.
Again Dwarf Gourami get larger than Neons, substanially. As mentioned on my stocking post, the best option would be to keep only 1 Dwarf Gourami since more could create aggression over space and food...
I also fell in love with Serpae Tetra. Very pretty.
