It was obsession. His tail looks normal now, and he looks healthy. As precaution, I will see if I can get a food richer in calcium and change the filter cartridge.
Hellue. During the evening I noticed the tail of my BND (blacknose dace) has a tiny bit of very small ruffage on the tail in a couple of spots. It hasn't really progressed AFAIK and now it's late...
It may have happened to me before, just keep an eye. Not all babies would get eaten if you left.
Use a bandage.

^I want the edit button especially now because I just remembered that releasing native fish is a disaster.
So, I guess these little guys are feeders now. Nowhere to go, especially since the 30 will...

sorry for double post, but that edit button should be available at all times.
I think the parasite thing is a false alarm.

Now I know why I have 10 mosquito fish instead of the original 12.
Time to feed more veggies and get larger adult mosquito fish, and free the current...
Try doing something like this with the plants.
I now know how not to use the EHEIM 2217. And can tell people what not to do.
There is no true way to tell, just keep an eye.
Either I'm lucky, or it is normal that in the many times I bred them that they give birth in the day. Either way if you have hornwort or other really...

^ I think it was the filter media. See the story below.
I just accidentally gave the media the best rinse it can get. I tried running in the tub to troubleshoot, but it wouldn't start multiple...

It's brand new, what I did to start was fill the canister to the top with water, put on the lid, fill the tubes with water, connect the tubes, then start it. It started very smoothly and quietly, and...

Hello, I found a suck-free way to start the EHEIM very smoothly, but when I did, I think I saw brown particles, most likely from the media I thought I had thoroughly washed, cascading into the water....

I've had good luck with plecos before. They're great. I'm going to have to try a lo66 pleco or l333.

It does. But not enough info to actually do it.

You are missing nothing, I was double checking to make double sure he was answering the filter question. The way to start it without filling-and-spilling is to suck on the output, which is gross even...

I might as well ask this even though I'm 99% sure it is ok.
Is it safe to break an obstructive piece off driftwood off? I got an extension that prevents the driftwood from being placed in a good...

I just did a water change last night, and figured "what the heck, why not toy with the hardscape."
Now I got the most beautiful tank I ever had lol. Upgrading is going to be hard now....
Your shrimp would LOVE that tank. Lol.
Darn that driftwood is amazing. Mine's still seriously near jet-black.

So, to recap, can an EHEIM 2217 be started this way?
>shut valves and disconnect input & output tubes.
>Fill canister to the tip with water then put on lid letting excess water and bubbles splash...

More creek dace blacknose chubs, more ghost shrimp, crayfish now that I got more hiding spots and know to use calcium injects, and maybe expand the school of mosquito fish.

I'm from ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)ville. :)

THIS IS NOT FINISHED.
This is the start of my 55 gallon half-aquascape tank. Like an aquascape but it's construction will be a bit more leisurely.
This is the start so far....
Gars are good. :P
Then curious people will ask how to pee controlled amounts into their tanks on youtube and things will get really awkward.
