Never mind....put it in qt....two hours later was belly up. Put it out of it's misery with an ice bath.
Any insights for the future would be appreciated. I've had these for three months.
I have 8 denisoni barb. One of them today is looking pale, bloated and slow. Normally mine are quite active. THis one was separating himself.
An image is below.
+1 to the above. Gouramis, angels and barbs are tiger barb variants are likely to result in a tank ofmtiger barbs at the end. The long fin guys will likely be nipped and harassed to death.
I would add a little ammonia. Your .5 reading could erroneous and you don't want to starve yor cycle... Just a dab to get that level up around 2.

That's why you qt. Good work.
Great... Now feed the bact with a little ammonia each day testing every other, til you see ammonia and Trites at zero within 12 hours. When that happens u can start your stocking. Nice work.
I agree with the Gouramis as a good mix for hardy plant lovers.
Other than that watch for diggers... They can destroy an aquascape in no time.
Interested in what younger planting....I am doing...
+1 to the above. Sick fish are most often a sign that you have poor water parameters. I would disagree with your lfs folksnthat only ammonia and ph matters. Nitrites - which may be high given your...
Your gonna get help but we need more info.
1) can you post a pic?
2) when you tested your water what did you use for testing?
3) when you removedmthe filter...what exactly did you...

Have personally had several experiences like goddess's...although not the male eggs part. I guess that wasn't part of the interview.
"Can you give me an example of your knowledge of how animals...
Yep... You asked...he told you. Your choice whether to take the advice. For what it's worth salt is not good for freshwater fish and if you have fish in distress which your tetra is indicating a...
Smaug is correct. Most of us here would recommend using a tap water conditioner, doing a fishless cycle and making sure your water conditions are really solid. Neons are fragile...so try a few...
As Hobbs mentioned you need to continue to be patient... It took me three weeks plus to see nitrites. Then two weeks for nitrates. It's worth it rather than watching your fish suffer.

Ok- I'll throw my option in at the end.
Black gravel surface substrate with a planting medium below. Vals and swords in the background a rock structure to form some caves in mid tank. Sides...
+1 to the above. Do the right thing...don't torture the FTC because you don't have space. Your tank is nice so you seem committed...do the fish right please.
So today I came home and found one of three denisonii barbs in my 70 gallon dead. First loss in this tank and it has been stocked for about five weeks. All seven other occupants are fine and...
Not surprised at that.. Nitrites super high. Lots of ammonia being broken down equals a ton of waste, I.e. Nitrites. The good news is you are still getting nitrate production, which means you...
I am running two on my 70 gal display. One a q110 and a penguin 220 or something. The 220 is tiny but will save my tank if needed in a pinch til I can replace my monster.
+1 to brhino. Danios scatter their eggs, and then will eat them if allowed to. Filter or airstones can cause this effect.
A bubble nest is formed on the surface. Bettas are a common example.
Neons are frail...don't lose heart. Keep up the WC's and monitoring levels.

Your tanks sound to have several very similar experiences to mine. I will be posting an update to my journal soon.
We have similar sizes, both using ac110 and both seeding with...
Sweet... If this is the case it is a sign of a healthy tank, right?
