If the Ammonia bubbles up and within a few seconds disappear then it's good but if it foams up and stays that way don't use it.

With the C4 I think I am going to do away with the carbon the first cleaning I do and replace with a foam block and there is alot room in that chamber for it.

When your nitrites spike your ammonia will fall shortly after. When that happens only add half of what you added the first time which would be 2ppm once per 24hrs even if the ammonia is gone in 6hrs...
