andreahp: Whoops - missed your question. No, I do not check params daily. This tank shows stable params over long periods of time, so I find I don't get much information out of more frequent checks...

The Fluval Spec has an internal filter that is adjustable. Typically, my little guy has not been bothered by the current as he has a plant and a structure to hide in.

I'll ponder an upgrade...

I'm happy to report that Shelly is now starting to form new shell like a normal, happy snail. It even extends beyond the 'fake' shell I made him out of egg shells. I'm curious as to what's going on...

It's not great quality, but you get the idea. It's now been about a week...

Quick update: Since I posted, I've performed a repair on this snail using cleaned egg shells, super glue, and nail polish. He's a happy little dude, now. Will post a follow up with pics soon.

Don't worry - I hunted through all my results (within reason). I was hoping for some more in-depth feedback from the community here, though. There are several pages that say you can repair snail...

As it turns out, shortly after my first clam died, so did the other two. My poor little dudes. The silver lining is that mini clams are delicious to some of my other critters... :/

No - I've always just let my clams filter any leftover gunge out of the water - e.g., fish food, algae, etc. Is there a way to feed clams in a targeted manner?

I don't really know how old he was, either. I suppose he was fully grown, but that's probably the only clue I'll ever have. He was really neat while he was around.
