I am planning to buy a good overhang filter. Can anyone recommend a good brand for a 55 gal tank? Both of my overhang filters are Aquatech that I purchased 5 years ago from Walmart.

Thanks for the advice waylon101!
Yes I have been feeding my peacocks with NLS Cichlid Formula. I also alternate it with frozen krill, brine shrimp and bloodworms. But most of the time I just feed...

I am opening this new topic as a follow-up on my previous thread. I have finally traded off most of my mbunas and left 5 all male peacocks in my 55 gal tank. I traded all my stock for 6 young golden...

I also forgot to ask if anyone can identify the Peacock Cichlid below the one with the red band. Is it a Walteri? Most of my Peacocks look like it. I have long lost the one with the red band. :scry:

I am currently at a crossroad whether to trade off all the stocks I have and just keep a few Electric Yellows and Johannis. I have tried about 3 years or so to maintain Peacocks and seem not to be...

Thanks for the reply. I don't regularly check my water parameters but what I do is I make about 50% water change every week. I maintain water temperature between 78 to 82F. When I conduct water...

I really appreciate the inputs. I tried searching for answer from different websites and all advice I got was the type of food that will bring out the color. Now I know the consensus is that my tank...

Below are snapshots of my tank taken almost a year ago.
I guess most of your replies have the same suggestion and that is the tank is overcrowded. Reason why I did this was to...

I also changed the artificial decors that I had before with real rocks that I got from Upper Klamath Lake in Oregon. I don't know if that helped bring the color of the 3 males...but could be a...

I did everything I could with the all male peacock tank and still no go. Until I was forced to put in the 2 female peacocks I had previously isolated in another tank and all the colors of the 3...

Also to add, my 2 corys just died about a week ago from an unknown cause. Definitely not attacked by my peacocks, electric yellow and acei's. I am planning to purchase a type of cat fish for the...

Yes, its the german red. The smaller one that I have (not in the picture) is all red.
So far since their inception to the tank, the corys are not being bothered by any of the peacocks at all.

Once I trade in my excess supply of electric yellow, acei for fish food, I will just leave the 3 large males and juveniles by themselves and see how it goes. Leaving the 2 corys and 1 algae eater...

To add to my post, I have had my peacocks for almost 5 months now. I separated the 2 females in a smaller tank by themselves. When I got my peacocks, they were colorful but once they were introduced...

Its been more than 2 years since I logged in. I miss everyone and good to be back.
Anyway, I am having problems with my peacock cichlids. Listed below are the fishes that I have with them and...
Thanks for all the advices. I think I know what caused the death of the frys. As some of you have mentioned keeping the ph and temperature constant or close to what I have in the tank. I am afraid I...
I have tested our water supply in the Bay Area and generally it is hard and ideal for Mbunas.
I hope someone in this forum can help or give some advise as to why my Electric Yelllow and Acei Cichlids die whenever I make 20% water change all of a sudden. I used to do this before but lately, my...
When I first got them, they were about more or less 2 inches.
Below are photos of them taken about more than a month ago before they started to change color. You can see that their blue luster us...
