What type of Bichir is it...? senegalus only get around 7-12" while Ornates can get 20"+

Just add a peice of driftwood or something... The baby Assassins usually stay hidden in the substrate for months but a peice of bogwood should do...
My best advice for raising them seperatly is to only use a very thin layer of substrate and if you use a gravel cleaner place it an inch or two above the substrate. Little baby snails are easily...
