IMO shrimp do best in darker colored substrate, esp the RCS they try have a darker (red) coloration so as to blend with the substrate color. So I have decided to go for a dark substrate.

yes its normal. try catching them and you will see that all the stripes are gone.

substrate seems to be the call and let me add some substrate and take some shots. Any suggestions on what color of substrate would be better. I have some white sand with me.

Deep rooted plants covered by boulders and got breeding oscars in it.

cardinals are more sturdier than neons and shoal better too. But cost being a major factor. Here cardinal is atleast a $ or 2 more than what you pay for a neon.
