fairly near the intake ,supose could place the heaster behind the rocks mite even hide it, the lights are 2 led blue and white actinics yea i prefer these as gives a nice blue shimmer effect... ...

well i didnt do a water change and now introduced 9 mbuna cichlids in there, 3 yellow, 3 blue, 1 orange and 1 white the i hope to stock some more whats my limit do u think 35? also wanted 4...

bloke in fish shop said i dont need to water change?? tested water and all ok..

last few days seen a drop in nitrites, applied 4ml ammonia 11.30 am yesterday and today tested at 9:00am:

nitrite= zero
ammonia= zero
nitrate= 5 ppm

i think i may be there !! whoow...

my NItRATE reading is very high, is that would it should be?

quick update guys:

9.am- added 4ml ammonia.( my orinal dose when starting was 8ml).. tested ammonia 2o mins after reading of around 2.00

17.00- ammonia = zero

nitrates still spiking.

just tested ammonia , looks almost zero again, wow things progressing faster than i thought, going wait another day and check again, tested nitrites and off the scale a dark purple, i added a big...

nitrites is off the scale purple around 3.00 so i have a spike.

just nitrites reading, typing error and newbee, still trying work it all out. lol

i do have nitrates readings , well holiday is not to january wanted a few fish in once cyled, best not introduce the cichlids until back as water changes etc, i added 8ml of ammonia and the reading...

ammonia is gone, clear sample, so how much to add now, shall i bring it up to 2.0 or 4.0. im prob going introduce just a few synodontis catfish when cycled as then going on holiday so cant really...

so just took another reading for ammonia today still seems a tiny shade of yellow on the chart showing 0.6 ammonia in... how do i know when no ammonia left will it be white like clear water on the...

i also just tested for nitrite and have a reading of id say 2.0... between the darkest 3.3 and 1.6 reading. i take it this is good, now shall i add more ammonia to get the level higher

right so i had wait 3 weeks for my test kitsupplied by ark petstore wont be using them again, so last week i added 8ml of b&q ammonia and today just finallly got my teskit, heres the result ammonia...

my pond filter has some used k1 media , shall i take out a few handfulls of this although very greeny? cos i took the 2 carbon sachets out of my ex1200 tetra filter as wasnt sure to use this as...
