Sorry for not posting any updates on this one. I have been quite busy just researching and tinkering with my ideas for it. I have also been re-doing my girlfriend's betta tank with a new filter and...
Well guys I have been doing some extensive research today into this project and went to my LFS for ideas. I also picked up some handy bits for my main shrimp tank but I'll discuss that stuff in the...
I know this sounds silly, but how small would be reasonable for the stocking I'm considering?
Dennerle do a 35 l version of the tank I mentioned before. I should be able to squeeze...
For those that have been following my shrimp tank re-do journal, you will know that after tearing down the tank and starting afresh, I have had quite a lot of success with lots of...
SHRIMP BABY PICTURES!!!!!
So far i've spotted 3 shrimplets. Hopefully there is many more.
Some good news guys.
I HAVE A CONFIRMED BABY SHRIMP thumbs2:
The problem is since new born shrimplets are usually stationary for the first few days/weeks and this guy has decided to be in the...
Bit of an unexpected turn.
I like to keep my water hardness parameters at 165TDS, 6GH and 0-1KH for the optimal health and breeding of the shrimp.
Whilst in the middle of a 5 litre water change...
Well its been about 24 hours since I put the purigen in and there is a massive difference. Sat at my computer desk it really does look like the shrimp are just swimming in thin air. Its only when I...
Well I must admit that I am impressed so far. First picture is 5 minutes after adding purigen and the second picture is from now, about 2 hours after adding purigen. There is a clear and noticeable...
Thanks that's what I was thinking, that the new test kit would be accurate. I shook the bottles very vigorously for 60 seconds each and left the tube for 5 minutes before checking the results.
I just tested my water with the new nitrate test kit and this gave me a reading of 10ppm.
I tested my water yesterday afternoon with the old test kit before I did a 5 litre water change and this...
Well I've been to my LFS to pick up some Seachem Purigen and I also got a new API nitrate test kit since my current one is quite old and I want to rule out the possibility of dodgy results.
Bit of an update for you guys.
From what I can seen, it looks like 2 of the blue bolts shrimps have died but the other two are now thriving. I'm putting this down to the nitrate levels. ALl the...
The Blue Bolts are in!
The shrimp and other bits are here!
Got the blue bolts drip acclimatizing at the moment but they are still quite a nice colour. I ordered 3 but got 4 so can't complain :)
Video of the shrimps munching on an algae waffer!
Bit of an update guys. Picking up some new brand of food to trial and a feeding dish to make taking out uneaten food easier.
I am also going to pick three blue bolt shrimp which is a variety of...
Once I get the nitrate issue sorted, I am going to experiment with a new tank maintenance/ feeding regime.
At the moment I feed every other day which means I have bought food nearly two years ago...
Thank you :)
Doing a small water changing and tested water.
Ammonia is now definitely 0.00
Nitrate is now the issue at 40ppm
I can't really do a big water change for reasons...
They are all first time berried as well so we shall have to wait and see. A couple of them were extremely berried but dropped a few, hopefully due to inexperience and nothing wrong with parameters etc
You ask and I shall deliver!
Tried to get pics of all the berried females :)
The bacteria bloom has also settled down nicely in conjunction with the cycle coming to an end.
Looks like my mini-cycle is just about over.
I'm reading 0.00pm - 0.05pm ammonia. Its hard to tell buts its more yellow that green plus I always used to get low a similar reading for...
Slight update for you guys. The mini-cyle seems to be progressing now and the PH is at a much more desirable level rather than the 4.5ph my previous substrate gave me.
Parameters are currently:
Bit of bad news today.
I saw that one of the new berried females was quite lethargic and the other shrimps seemed to be attacking her. I isolated her but I knew that she wasn't going to make it...
That's a good point that I didn't think about Slap!
Thanks. I am so happy!
From a quick google search I can't find any sellers in the states. However, there does appear to be a...
