6700k would be just fine.
As Slap says, do have a look at the LED alternatives.

Yip my recommendation is still for a 965 series bulb. Something like Osram's Biolux range would work. At that wattage it produces 1600lumen of light but more importantly it peaks very well in the...
Thank you :)
It's irritating as I sometimes struggle to sell them this side. I've got two that are around 4cm long and I was asking R70 (+-$5) each. Morons contact me saying why can't I give them...

Missed my edit time frame....
The right sized T5 HO specialised aquarium bulb. Ideally between 4000k-6500k.
If you can get your hand on an Osram 965 series T8 that could work as well.

It depends on what you are trying to grow of course.
Otherwise some kind of LED setup but there I don't know...

Not a problem bud.
The water change schedule is critical
Regarding reducing the feeding to once a week I would not recommend this.
Perhaps feed once every two days with a small amount. I'd...
A full feed (pellets, algae wafers, spirulina, flakes)in the morning. That vanishes quite quickly
A tiny pinch of either flakes or pellets in the afternoon for those that maybe missed out. The...
And a short little video of the main tank when they are getting their afternoon snack. They seem to like the Hikari micro wafers
Well, I wasn't able to grab a nice shot of the entire school. The T8 lights just don't provide enough for good photos of fast moving fish. (Guess I'll need to upgrade those at some point :) )
I'll see if I can grab some pics of the bigger school tomorrow after their water change. They are rapidly becoming my favourite of the tetra family
That's why I'm following an observation process on them.
Local guys all seem to think they nip but I cannot find any information that backs up that claim.
So I'm just playing it safe really...
Oh and Slap due to horrible exchange rates (working in the dollar's favour as always) you could buy a Lemon Tetra here for 70 US cents.....now imagine how many you would want :-)
These two are part of four of them that I have yet to successfully catch and relocate to the other tank. So that other tank has 14 instead of 18 of them.
However, they seem to be very happy in...
Here are two images of the Lemon Tetras. (Just to make you jealous Slap!) :)
And here are two images of my relatively new batch of Ancistrus fry. Both the L144 and the Green are...
Depending on what you want the outside of the tank to look like.....Maybe just knock up a simple wooden light box (paint the inside white as a reflector) and basic stand for it?
I use three...
It was a massive problem.....I was at a corporate event and couldn't leave. So several phonecalls were made as I had to advise them as to where they could move everything between the tanks so that...
Lfs. And I can take cash if I want to as well :-)
For comparison purposes this is what the main tank looked like with the rocks
So some more, should we euphemistically say interesting stuff, has happened to my aquariums. The oldest of them popped its seal and dumped water everywhere! The parents decided to just replace the...
It's a complex but effective trickle filter arrangement that came with the tank. Unfortunately, if the pump isn't working the bacteria in the filter are exposed to almost zero water (the compartments...
It's a sad update..... Due to unstable electricity because of these morons in charge my trickle filter pump blew a few days ago.
No problem I thought, dashed out that very day and got a new pump....
It's frustrating. I need to figure out what is happening.
Going to see if I can get my water tested this weekend.
He didn't make it.
Whatever the issue originally was he started to look really bad. The scales were peeling off and he was bleeding. Just checked the tank before bed and he was deceased.
Right, the first 40% water change has been done.
I'll keep tabs on the little guy and do another water change tomorrow.
Thanks once more guys. Always extremely helpful!
And how many water changes and of what volume this week?
I was thinking 20% every day to keep the water extra clean
