The tannins are not what I'm concerned about, it's the cloudy water. The last piece of Mopani I got never made the water cloudy.
I bought a brand new piece of Mopani Wood a week ago, and have been soaking it to remove the tannins before I put it into my tank. Every day, the water is cloudy. I've been using HOT tap water to...
Microworms...I will have to look into that! Thanks!
I will make sure to show her exactly how much to feed, so there's no question. Thank you for the advice!
Thanks for the advice!
We currently have about 35 platy fry!! SO cool. They were born on March 26, so they're a couple weeks old now.
My question is, how often do they need to be fed? We are going out of town for 5...

Well, so far he turned his nose up at the apple. He's so shy, I always have to leave whatever I'm giving him in the tank overnight because he will not come out of hiding while he can see us. :( ...

Could you modify this to make it work for you?
*edited to add:
This one is fairly expensive, but I know I've seen similar things at Walmart and at the...

Well, mine won't eat any of the zucchini except the skin, so...
We'll never know what they like unless we offer it, though, right?

Awesome, I will try him with some apple tonight!
Peru is GORGEOUS, BTW. Beautiful pleco!!

I got a medium sized chunk of Mopani to put in there, it's soaking now. As soon as it stops turning the water brown, it will go in the tank!

Oh good! We love watermelon!

I'm kicking myself right now because we've had this beautiful pleco for about 4 months now, and I JUST learned that what he (she?) needs most is driftwood. The LFS didn't mention this when we bought...
I see two problems here.
First, if you're going to own an animal, then you need to keep it contained. Nothing is more aggravating than having a neighborhood cat spray the back door, dig through...
I'd post in this thread, but I don't wanna be banned, so nobody else can post after me...
This thread is closed.
And Little Embers is banned!!
I think we've decided to take the 'wait and see' approach with this. I know that he will eventually be 4" long, and quite large enough to eat our danios. I like the danios, and am hoping to keep...
We've only had him two days, and he nips at me if I reach in to move something. :(
Saturday, we went to the LFS with the intention of getting 4 more danios for our existing 4, which would make a nice school of 8.
I should have left my husband at home.
We walk in, go over to...
We'll leave the light off when we're gone at work and only leave in on during the evening when we're home, then!
It will eventually be a planted tank, but we can't decide on what we want in there...
Right, that's what I meant, we have the light on FAR too long for a non-planted tank...
So if that's algae, would it be too soon to put a bristlenose pleco in? Or should we wait, and just scale...
I hope I posted the pic correctly, it was my first attempt. :)
Ok, now for my question... Is this brown stuff algae??
We've had our tank set up for almost a month,...
Ok, so we're going again this weekend to pick out some more fish. After adding two new ones on Saturday, our water chemistry stayed perfect. But then after losing Pinky yesterday, I'm thinking we...
We will definitely be upping the number of danios we have, since we do have another small green one that was about the same size as Pinky was. I don't want to see that happen again. :(
Well, we started out with just the one glofish, and two other danios... (got some questionable advice from LFS) However, what you say makes sense, because the zebra danio and the leopard danio...
Our red glofish passed away today. I have no idea why, since our water parameters have been holding steady at 0 ammonia, 0 nitrites, and 10-20 nitrates for a couple of weeks now,...
