I tested both the tank water and the tap water.
Tap water: Nitrate=0. Phosphate=0.25ppm...
Tank water: Nitrate=5ppm. Phosphate=0.25-0.5ppm.
I will re-test if these numbers don't make sense.

Will be getting a glass lid. Hood would be to difficult to cut.

After much discussion with my husband, we have figured out how to make a HOB filter work. It will require some furniture re-arranging and some de-cluttering. There is plenty of time to get it done...
