Thanks. The situation arose when the sun fell low enough in the midday sky to hit the end of two aquariums. So obviously a light problem I am embarrassed I asked.

We've something, algae(?), dark green to nearly black, slowly grows in little spots on the inside of fresh water aquariums. Easily removed by scraping it off with a razor blade.
Is there some way...
Elsewhere I read that one could grow mangroves in a freshwater aquarium, is this correct?
Where can one get mangroves for the aquarium?
I read of someone growing mangroves as a Bonsai. Have you...

I accidentally dumped too much food in an aquarium.
My wife has two three inch black moors in a 30 gallon tank and she usually cares for them but she is away this week. I went to feed them and...
Since our water temperature has dropped to 50°F some of the larger sarasa rise higher in the water where the sun hits the pool and drop lower in the water when there is shade. I remember something...
I also use a garden hose. I got the end of a Python at a yard sale in a box of aquarium supplies. Total cost for about 50 feet was less than $20.

As the days get shorter and the nights get cooler do you feed your pond fish more, less or the same?

We putting in a new floor, tile over concrete. Have five 30gl tanks, each with two moors. The plan is to move one one tank, put all the fish in the one tank, replace the floor then restore the tanks...
Googling one can quickly find a couple of dozen places that says one can use hard boiled eggs as food for fry and drops etc.
Hardly anyone describes how to prepare and use the eggs.
My wife, who doesn't care for fake plants, decided to experiment with "faking" plants in the aquarium. She has a 30gal tank with large real plants behind, and at the ends, and above of the tank and...
My spouse has comets in her pond where it occasionally freezes. She doesn't feed them when the water temperature is below mid-50s F. They seem to be thriving.
Moors survive but don't seem to...
My wife has a piece of artwork, for want of something to call it, made of clear glass that will hold bout two liters of water. She has had a fancy tailed yellow guppy in it for about two years now....
Some computer help forums have a mechanism to lock out replies after the problem has been solved with a note to that affect. I don't recall if they are vBulletin forums or not.

We've a 30 gal with a lid, as it were, of two glass strips once connected by a hinge like plastic joint.
The glass pieces are approx 6x30 inches and the ''hinge'' is 30 inches.
One piece of...
I saw one at the supermarket which said it contained aloe and didn't say anything else about any chemical ingredients.
This made me curious. Set aside, for the purposes of this thread the uses and...

Thanks for the mention of Python. I have parts on one I bought at a yard sale and use it for cleaning. I had no idea what it was called. After plugging the name Python into a Google video search I...

How do you change 30-50% per week with four 30gal tanks? That's 36-60 gal that must be brought to temperature and tested. Then one must somehow remove and replace 36-60 gal. I can siphon this much...

I dissected the black moor [I've worked for research pathologisst and dissected a lot of rats. My knowledge of the innards of fish is limited to cleaning them to eat.]
There was bile and arterial...

Parameters in this tank have historically been boring, measurable but low, so I simply forgot to check after finding the dead fish.
I just checked and nitrates and ammonia were borderline on the...

A, perhaps five year old, blind black moor was behaving ''normal'' at about 5:30 this morning. At 8:30 it is upside down in a corner dead.
It has been in the same 30 gallon tank with two fancy...
We've two sort of string algae. In the winter, shorter days and water temperatures rarely above 40oF we've a more chartreuse algae that feels ever so slightly kinky when harvest by hand. We ignore...
Lowe's has some very fine shelves. There are chrome colored, resistant to rust for at least six years in our experience. They have rounded vertical posts and the horizontal shelves themselves are...
On some other vBulletin boards participants get quite annoyed when an old thread is resurrected but there doesn't seem to be any movement to just lock them after a certain date.
Did you test your new water before the change?
I don't know if this is ever indicated. But here is why I ask. I was a clinical chemist for many years and at the beginning of the shift someone was...
