I would recommend AT LEAST a 10. That is how I started and now I have a 29 with 10 gallon sump.
10 gallon is good because you can set something up nice for around $500 with some corals and lights...

Seems fine.....I wouldn't be worried about aeration. I have never had any problems in my 29. How high is your water level and what kind of top are you using. (if any at all)
