I got a large piece of driftwood, about 30 inches long by 15 inches high, and cannot keep it submersed. Any suggestions for keeping it in place? I was going to drill a hole in part of the large...

Thanks! I will definitely try that. I will move all the other plants away, and leave the Lotus in the middle, where it can get the most light, along with pulling the bulb up closer to the surface.

Thanks for the info.
It is a 30 gallon tank that I keep at 80-82F and the gravel is pretty small. I don't have any sort of tie down or weight on the lotus and its bulb is buried about 1-1.5...

I have a planted tank with everything you need. All my other plants are doing well, but most only require minimal light. I also have eusteralis, anubias, cryptocoryne, and java ferns. I have...
I agree this forum and its users are full of great information.
However, I rarely post because so far, everywhere I have, I have to wade through the responses of hate, either because of the...
Thank you first for the reply; I am glad you were able to sift through the plethora of mysterious riddles in my post and only through hard work and clear mind you were able uncover...
Oh how my bala sharks love to destroy my live plants.
However, I have found that they do not like Java Ferns and African Anubias.
Anyone else know any live plants that bala sharks don't eat?
That is why I came here. Better to ask dumb questions, than to have a dead aquatic friend.
I have gotten that impression from reading other threads.
Questionable ethics? For feeding the...
Sorry. I misunderstood. I thought because the tinfoils were so big, that I would need a 125 for an oscar and them. Not an oscar and ANY tankmates. I was asking for new ideas for...
That is the plan. However, people are stupid.
In my experience, keeping a good watch on your chemistry provides for a less stressful environment for your fish, as well as giving you room for an overstocked tank.
As for nearby stores, if there...
Thanks for all the info. I didn't realize oscars grew so fast! I know tinfoils go from 1 inch to 8 in no time, but I have never had anything else grow that quickly.
I am not sure if a 125 will...
I have a lot of experience with community tanks, but I have never owned an oscar. My coworkers want me to set up an oscar tank at work.
One of the guys says he has a 70 gallon tank, but I haven't...

Sometimes you will see a rise in pH and not on your NH3 and NOs... yet If normal pH is 7.2, than this is nothing to worry about. But if it's normally 6.8-7.0 range, then it is an indication of...
I love neons and cardinals but they can be a bunch of wussies when bringing them into a new tank. I know your pain.
In addition to the others' suggestions, you can add some medication to your...

Thanks for all the advice. I am not planning on getting any rainbowfish for either of my tanks. The 30 is too small, and since balas and roselines are my favorites, they aren't moving out.

Yeah, I have had the two pearls for two or three weeks. The dwarfs did the same thing for the first week, now they swim with the balas, and the roselines when they aren't flying around. They look...

I am not worried about the over stock, as when they get big, I can usually move them to my sister's tank. I keep up on the water chemistry, too.
My gouramis seem to be...

I was looking at the Boeseman's rainbowfish and would really like to add them to one of my tanks, but I am not sure how compatible that would be. It is rare I see one around in local shops, and if I...
