As mentioned, when those Mollies get a decent size, bring them into a lfs. Chances are they'll trade for instore credit.

I also have a coconut shell in my tank. Not smooth as all but my fish do love it. Never had a problem with it at all.

I've actually had it where I had zebra danios, about 7 of them, and one basically attacked the others. That would be a possibility as well. Also, rainbows, although rather docile fish, can turn.
