This stupid thing really did a number of my aquarium. My plants still haven't quite bounced back, my plants all turned brown the day after and still haven't recovered.
It's so bad the dead growth...
what a shame, it seems my banana plant is another victim. About a day later all the leaves just straight fell off and the next day the roots were all shriveled up and by the next day had been eaten...
Noticed a little white spot on my Gourami. Hoping the stress didn't cause ich to catch on, did a bit of salt (can't go too heavy with the cories)
It had to be that, because the water parameters...
Upstate NY, 90 is practically hellish.
Anyway, sitting a fan right in front of the aquarium has the water at 80.
Today is a really hot day, almost 90, and it's 82 in the aquarium room right now.
Was walking past my aquarium today and noticed all my tetra, dead, floating at the surface, all my snails booking...
Just got home, tested it two more times
4.0 first test
4.5 second test
That's not .4
My fish should be gasping at the surface for air, rolling around in gil burning pain and my...
I hope I didn't wash my filter wrong.
I just took the media and moved it through some old tank water, and then stored it in that bucket of water for the hour or so while I did a big cleaning
Well, it read 0 after a number of tests, so maybe the residue is cleaned out and 0 is the actual reading?
There's no way it could jump from .8 to 0 from one water change
this is also the first...
So I did a huge cleaning of my ten gallon a few days ago (algae was out of control). I cleaned the filter, hopefully the proper way (I cleaned it in old tank water), but I wanted to test to make sure...
- Water treatment, I live in a city
- about 20%
- I vacuum every time I do a change, it's how I remove the water.
No I leave it on. I read somewhere that was the best way to extend the life...
Alright, so I noticed this again, just now.
Every single time I change the water on my 25 gallon since I made this thread back in October, it's cloudy for 24 hours or so.
...but it's not the...
bah, I chickened out.
I'm not confident enough in this 1.5 to buy the expensive shrimps. I bought 4 ghosts (total $1.50) and they will live in the aquarium until I think it's settled enough. Then...
that name does seem familiar.
I'll see if my dad wants to take a drive tonight. Maybe I'll end up with the cherry shrimp. They seem to breed easy so I assume buying 4 will provide enough shrimp to...
yea, I'm just going to bite it and get 4 of them. I was actually using your rational to justify the price. Since normally in the big tanks shrimp are just background animals, I dont put much thought...
Not sure why it's foggy still... it's been set up for a day and a half
Well, I got a small heater and it seems to work alright.
NOBODY HAS CHERRY SHRIMP ;_;
My lfs doesn't carry them. Every other pet store doesn't seem to carry them. I'm stuck with...
Would this work, or would it melt the bottom of the aquarium? It has a built in plastic shelf thing at the bottom, and I'm concerned it may melt with the heating pad there.
We're talking close to 60 degree air temperature on some of the peak days in January. I'm not sure what that would mean the water temp is, but the one day I left my 25 gallon without a...
I can't find a heater for a one gallon aquarium anywhere. Everything is rated for a 10 gallon, and if it's the same size as the 10 gallon heater I have now it's nerely have the size of...
alright, it's set up and I just have the no cartrige filter running because I am 100% positive there's at least 3 snails in the tank that I would be unable to remove and I don't want them to run out...
could I start setting the tank up now while the filter is cycling?
Like get the substrate in, get the plants and decor in, and get the heater going so all I need when it's cycled is to drop the...
A Platy a male Betta and about a gazillion Ramshorn snails.
Plants are water sprite, some plant I don't remember the name of that grows like crazy, a sagittaria, and a lot of duckweed. And a...
I don't think anything you could keep in an aquarium with a betta. I know that doesn't seem to make sense, but I think the only other things that live around it are fish that a betta in an aquarium...
So just put the little tiny sponge into my big filter for a few weeks?
Alright, I'll get right on that right now. I wanted to set up the aquarium some time this week, but I can easily wait. This...
I've had this little child's "Betta Box" hanging around for awhile with nothing in it. My little brother got it as a gift to keep a betta, but the betta got cold and the container was really small,...
