Hey, thank you SO MUCH for your help. I got the maracyn, and that seems to have fixed the problem and killed whatever infection was in the tank. The fish have been healthy and happy. I did the...

I picked up some maracyn (which is erythromycin), enough for a 5 day treatment as directed. I'll also get some epsom salt to drop in (about 1 tsp for my 29 gal).

Hopefully this will knock it out....

I'll have to see if I can find maracyn. Any other options? My local petco had little to offer, that's why I got pimafix. I'll have to probably get to my normal aquarium store tomorrow.

    dropsy

So about 2 weeks ago, I had a cory that suddenly looked bloated. It's eyes were bulging out, and it stopped eating, got lethargic, pine-cone scales, etc. After much research, it appears to be...

Out of curiosity, would a cockatoo apisto be better if I removed the kribensis?

Thanks for all the feedback. I can try adding more cover, caves, etc, giving them a more "separated" feel, with...

If you dont feed a bit of ammonia to the tank every day after the ammonia drops to 0, you'll kill the cycle. The ammonia > nitrite converting bacteria need ammonia to live.

    So once your ammonia...

Hmm everything I'd read about the cockatoo was that it was unique in the sense it handled 8.0 PH water fine. (in fact, the library on this very site lists PH range from 6.0 to 8.0 for the cockatoo)...

29 gallon, 8.0 PH, very soft water (hardness 1 or less), and alkalinity is like 250. Oh and temp is 77-78 F.

The LFS water is similar to mine, around a 7.5 PH, soft water, etc.

    kribensis or cockatoo apisto

I'm trying to decide if the kribensis is a suitable fish in my tank instead of the cockatoo apisto. Tankmates are a dwarf gourami, lemon tetras, and three lined corys.

    best place to buy online

Lemon tetras, and will also be adding a dwarf gourami and a cocakatoo apisto eventually. PH is 8.0. I'm thinking about some Julii corys maybe?
