Wow, I knew the filter cartridge contained some beneficial bacteria, but never knew it could actually be counter-productive to change it. Perhaps that and the lousy feeder blocks sealed the poor...

Hi Cliff, I changed the cartridge, as I do once a month or so. I made sure to do it a day after the water change (changed water day before trip, filter cartridge immediately before leaving).
