How I got started with aquariums.:

Way back when, my Dad made me a tank, a 10G. I kept swordtails and gouramis. Then after a long hiatus I returned to try keyhole cichlids.

Why I like fish::

I am not allergic to them. They are calming to watch. My baby daughter finds them interesting.

Best advice:

Be very selective about where you focus your creativity - stick to tried and true methods for the most part at first. If you want to do plants, find a source of lots of cheap, easy plants and start by filling the tank with them. Then slowly replace them with more interesting stuff.
