How I got started with aquariums.:

My older brother brought home 2 tinfoils, an oscar and a black shark and got bored after a week when I was 6 ... I was addicted straight away and spent many hours in the library and bought every issue of practical fishkeeping and by the age of 9 had a 16" Oscar an 18" Black Shark and 2 12" Tinfoils in gradually bigger and bigger tanks all of which ate out of my hands, then got more tanks and started breeding live bearers, cichlids, barbs, tetras, and catfish.

Favorite fish:

Too many - Discus, silver dollar, tinfoil, clown loach, Rams, Oscar

Best advice:

Water changes weekly with a good dechlorinator, only clean filters in tank water, dont use too many unnecessary chemicals that promise the earth, As much water as possible and a little aquarium salt, odd smells, algae and sludge, disease are signs that something needs tweaked - and it usually means you are skipping maintenance, keep fish together that like similar conditions and in numbers that make them comfortable.
