The new filter should be showing up tomorrow… thank goodness for Amazon Prime! I can vaguely remember a time when the LFS and mega-pet store were pretty much the only options I had for fish, equipment and supplies. Same goes for getting information about the hobby. It was either buy/borrow a book or talk to someone at the store. Now I am able to research any and everything, and then order the canister online at a very competitive price plus only 2-day shipping. And yet, I’m still anxiously
I had a tiger barb tank for three years. They were lots of fun but I never bothered mixing other fish in with them. Well, the last of the barbs is gone, most died off earlier than they should have I think and the last one I gave away.
So what is next? I now have two dwarf flame gourami and five cory cats. Really wanted to start more of a community tank. Unsure if and/or what I will add next.
Also, today I just ordered an Eheim Classic 2215 after much research and
aqueon-aquarium-water-changer Got the 25 footer for $25 on amazon (qualifies for free shipping, too!). Makes water changes so much easier - have used mine about 5 times now. I read that the Aqueons are built a little more solid than competitors. However, not having anything to compare it to, I will say that for the most part the product is solid. The only part I'm worried about for long term use is the valve knobs. THey are sometimes hard to turn and the blue plastic seems a bit flimsy. Maybe the knobs will loosen up after time and it won't be much of a concern? I also wish the threading for the faucet attachment was metal and not plastic. I worry about accidentally cross threading the plastic threads and ruining it.
TO sum up, for the price it's hard to pass up. THe 25 footer is plenty long for my setup and it's nice not having to carry buckets of water back and forth. Do not may full retail, they can be found for a dollar a foot!
