I started keeping fish about a year and a half ago and my interest is leaning toward goldfish. But, I'm really a dog person. I am very active in 2 dog clubs, training & competing in obedience and agility. I also assist with training classes. Another thing I enjoy is teaching one of my dogs many tricks and behaviours. He is clicker trained and learns so quickly! Next on the list is to teach him to jump rope (I'm not joking) :)
I bought a small bowl at a rummage sale. Went right to the pet shop and inquired about a goldfish. Bowl is too small, they said. A betta would be ok. I got a betta, and then about a week later he was in a 10 gallon tank! Since then I have learned a great deal about the proper way to keep fish and my interest and knowledge has grown from there. I have gotten so much good information from this forum and love it!
Favorite fish:
Goldfish generally, maybe a crown pearlscale specifically.
Best advice:
Before you get the fish you're thinking of, research lots to be sure you can provide the proper environment (ie. tank size, temp...) and be sure you know as much about their requirements as you can.
Other pets:
2 dogs, a cat, 4 budgies, 2 canaries, and a cockatiel.
