about two weeks ago one of my two spixi snails(a type of apple snail) laid over half a dozen clumps of eggs.
up to now they haven't seemed to change at all. they still are the translucent white like on the day they were laid. my questions are:
- how long does it take apple snail eggs to hatch?
- do snails randomly lay unfertilized eggs like say, chickens?

I need pond snails. Not the long spiral ones or MTS. I want the true tiny pond snail. I am trying to breed the ones I have, but for some reason, they are slow. I love snails and so do my two assassins. :18: Seriously though, I want snails in all my tanks to keep my assassins happy. I want to buy 4/6 more as soon as I have a large enough pond snail population.

Any idea how to get the pond snails to increase in numbers? I tried over feeding and just messed up the water quality. I've tried veggies and spinach, but still they aren't growing very fast.

Any one have "extras" they don't want??? I will gladly pay for them and shipping. OH, I live so far from any lfs, they are no help.

Thanks loads all.

Hi guys, long time no speak:)

Anyways, I come to you today with a question about snail eggs. I am pretty sure they are snail eggs, they just look like little sesame seeds spread around the back of the tank. I actually scraped alot of them off thinking it was sand clumped up on the back(I was re-arranging rockscsape in the peacock breeding colony). I was a bit unsure that they were snail eggs at first, given that they were spread out a fair bit across the back glass of the tank.

So the question is what are the chances of these snails hatching in a steady 8.3 pH with proper weekly maintenance and such? Substrate is cichlid buffer assisted by a reef buffer(8.3) with each water change. Heater 250 watts. Filtration is fluval c4 and AC70. 1 small powerhead for circulation towards the bottom of the tank. There are only 2 nerites currently in the 55 gallon tank along with 2 male peacocks(1 extremely dominant, other male might as well be a female) and 6 or 7 females.
