			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<div>so, currently i'm facing a dilemma regarding an upcoming 3D background project. I can't find a waterproofing system which won't harm the fish and other aquatic life.<br />
<br />
To get to the point quickly i need to know <br />
<br />
1) what happens if I don't waterproof the cement covering the styrofoam?<br />
<br />
2) Which product would you recommand me to use for waterproofing?<br />
<br />
3) is epoxy resin ideal in my case?</div>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<div>Ok so this weekend I will be getting my electric done in my garage to add the breakers to support my fish racks. Its going to take me a while to get the rack finalized but in doing the rack, the plumbing comes right after. For the rack, I plan on a simple stem pipe topped with a sponge to prevent fish transfers, each stem pipe will flow down to the next row in the rack and the tank below it on a simple waterfall system with a pvc elbow extending down into the top level of the tank to eliminate constant water sounds. The bottom row for the rack will be the combined input to the central sump pump/refugium. This will be a 55gal tank with baffles seperating the section.<br />
<br />
Ok so now you know my plan to set that up, here is where I need help:<br />

Obviously it would take a lot of time doing water changes on these tanks. How can I efficiently plumb a water change system into this? Prefferable it be automated.<br />
<br />
Need to know info:<br />
This is in a garage.<br />
There will be a utility sink but that will be located on the other side of the 20ft+ wide garage.<br />
The water heater is on the same wall but opposite side of the garage. <br />
The source can be t'd off for filling but how do I eliminate chlorine and chloromines?</div>

What I'm thinking (can't do this now as I don't have my fish room yet) is the following<br />
<br />
-On the front of each shelf have a 1-1/2&quot; pvc line running at an angle to the corner post to a T-Wye fitting and pipe down and over to a drain (either in floor or nearby sink). <br />
-In front on each tank, drill a 1&quot; hole in the top of that pvc pipe<br />
-Use the siphons shown in the link and just stick the outlet in the 1&quot; hole each time. This will allow you to remove the siphon and keep a clean look.<br />
<br />
-As for the refill system, why not have actual pvc waterline ran into the stand, have a ball valve over each tank with two valves to control temp before the stand. You could have a permanent 1/2&quot; pvc line into each tank with a bend to divert the flow, just have it just sticking inside the rim. <br />
<br />
If you really wanted high speed changes, you could use more than one siphon and all the tanks could fill at the same time. You would still need to add dechlor to every tank, but that wouldn't be to bad<br />

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<div>Just got my new (to me) , gently used, food grade 8 gallon open top drum in the mail. It has a plastic lid with O ring gasket and a metal clamp ring to seal it up. This little jewel only cost me 12.50 on Ebay plus the shipping. I don't have all of the pvc fittings yet, But I figured I would start a work log (journal) on what I was doing and share with the good citizens of our community. I will certainly look forward to reading comments and suggestions as it goes along, this will take a little time to complete as I need to buy materials here and there as I can afford them, so hang in there with me. Got the time, the 150 is cycling. But here are a few pics to get us going for now.<br />

     So, basically I am going to make 2 holes in the lid #1) in the center which is going to be the 3/4&quot; feed tube running to the bottom into a void where a uniform pocket of water will develop. As it fills it will fluidize the media. #2) off to the side of the inlet. When it fills up, the water pressure will displace the water and force it out of this 2nd hole and up the return line. I'm sure many people here know how a PhosBan reactor works and is setup. In effect this will be a huge reactor filled with floss, pads, bio-media and activated carbon.</div>
