Euthanizing your Beloved Fish Friends

I rescued this one eyed Rosy Barb who was living happily in my tank. After contracting costia twice now, and then pop-eye, I decided to euthanize her. I called my boss to ask how they do it at work, not trusting googles baking soda amounts. She advised as little water as possible and lots of baking soda. I had like 3/4 cup of water and 3 or 4 tbsp of baking soda. After a minute, she was still alive. I went to school for biology and having done many dissection labs, I severed her spinal cord. Next time, I think I will invest in some clove oil, make the fish doped up, and then sever the cord.
