April 11, 2014 Day 3
8 Mollies, 8 Guppies All under 1 month old.
So I have officially reached the target salinity of 1.025 and the little guys are all doing great! Absolutely no signs of distress whatsoever! I am thrilled!
(For anyone reading this who may not have experience with saltwater fish, Mollies especially make a GREAT addition to saltwater tanks for many reasons... A few being that they are excellent nuisance algae eaters, they breed like rabbits, which is a constant food supply for a reef tank, and they become even more beautiful than they already are when transferred to full saltwater.) I have always wanted saltwater mollies, but have tried many times and been unsuccessful with the acclimations. This time I did a ton of in depth research and found that there are many people out there wanting to do the same thing, however reliable, detailed, first hand accounts of how to do it, are few and far between. So I figured I would document my experience so that if successful, it might help some people out there looking to add this great fish to their reef/marine tank as well. I am sure there are many other ways to do this, this was just MY experience with it. If I left out any info or anyone has any questions please feel free to ask. I have been keeping mollies as well as breeding them for quite some time, and always love to help!
For now I am going to keep these little guys in my sump until they are big enough to go in my tank and not be food! I will add some pics soon!
